Carnival revellers in the city of Vaughan are getting ready to ” mash up de place”

with Cari-Vaughn, a three-day family festival that celebrates Caribbean culture.

The CariFestival Association which is organizing Cari-Vaughan, says its 25th anniversary celebrations  will begin on August 26.

The festivities will start off with the Tropical Lime and After work Eat, Drink + Mingle event which will include tutored rum tasting and cocktail demonstrations, Caribbean music and food truck fair.

On Saturday August 27, the CARNIVAL COLOURS Street Parade starts at noon at Woodbridge Public School and continues along Kipling Avenue ending at the Woodbridge Fairgrounds.  Admission to the fairgrounds is $10.00 but free for those in colour or costumes.

CARNIVAL COLOURS offers masqueraders the option to participate covered in coloured paint, powder and now for the first time participants can wear their own costume from Trinidad, Barbados, St Vincent, Brazil, Toronto, Montreal or any other carnival from around the world. (Cultural or national dress are considered costumes by CariVaughn.)

On Saturday Cari-Vaughan will alsp hold its  Caribbean Food and Music Festival which will continue at Woodbine Fairgrounds until 11pm.

At the food festival there will be a wide selection of Caribbean delicacies from jerk chicken and roti to currant rolls.

On stage will be the Caribbean Music Showcase featuring live performances presented by Artistic Director Eddie Bullen.The musical journey will span twenty islands of the Caribbean and include the popular musical genres of the region including soca, salsa, bachata, zouk, and reggae.
