PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad – The minister of national security, Edmund Dillon, has strongly condemned the recent increase in homicides in Trinidad and Tobago, especially the spate of attacks on the lives of national security officers.
Dillon expressed concern that officers who dedicate their lives to protect and serve citizens are apparently being targeted by criminal elements.
Corp. Shervaun Charleau of Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force and Supt. David Millette of Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service were fatally attacked recently.
Dillon gave his assurance that law enforcement officials are treating these instances seriously and are working assiduously to resolve these cases and bring swift justice to the perpetrators.
Dillon pledged his full commitment to ensure that the overall security apparatus of the country is strengthened to provide for the safety and security of all citizens of Trinidad and Tobago. Dillon reiterated that the defence and protective services will be given the necessary tools and resources to allow them to fulfill their duties efficiently and effectively.
