Mississauga seeks volunteers for awards

Mississauga is accepting nominations for the city’s Civic Award of Recognition Program.

Residents who have volunteered in the community for more than 10 years can be nominated.

The recognition evening will be hosted by Mayor Bonnie Crombie and members of council on Tuesday, June 2, with a ceremony in the council chamber at 7 p.m., followed by a reception from 8 to 9 p.m. in the Great Hall, both at Mississauga Civic Centre, 300 City Centre Dr.

The Civic Award of Recognition is part of a program which has honoured residents annually since 1992. Other awards in the program include the Certificate of Recognition, the Civic Award of Merit and Civic Award of Philanthropy.

Nomination forms and more information are at www.mississauga.ca. Deadline for nomination submissions is Friday, May 5, at 4:30 p.m.

Due to limited seating capacity, only the first 100 nominations received will be considered.
