On Friday Patrice Barnes, MPP for Ajax, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Education and Deputy Speaker of the House along with Raymond Cho, Ontario’s Minister for Seniors and Accessibility and MPP for Scarborough North joined forces to bring this exciting announcement to the people of Ajax.
The Ontario government will give Ajax an Inclusive Community Grant of $15,680 to cover the cost of purchasing and installing 5 mobility charging stations for mobility devices.
“People who rely on their mobile devices as their main source of transportation, will be able to charge their mobile device while on the go,” said Barnes
Minister Cho mentioned that this Inclusive Community Grant is designed to help communities across the province, become more inclusive and accessible for people of all ages and abilities these Inclusive and Age-Friendly Communities (like Ajax) work
to promote accessibility, safety, and active living for older adults and people with disabilities.
Ajax Deputy Mayor Marilyn Crawford said that these charging stations will ensure that anyone using door a powered mobility device can travel safely through Ajax. knowing they can maintain a charge while enjoying the library, waterfront, recreation programs and much more
She went on to say that the Town looks forward to seeing these Charging stations in place in the coming months. and hopes that Minister Cho and MPP Barnes will be back in the Spring to celebrate their installation.
