Mumbai Indians won their second Indian Premier League (IPL) title when they defeated Chennai Super Kings by 41 runs in the final last Sunday at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, India.

Mumbai Indians sent in to bat scored 202 for five wickets in their 20 overs with West Indies batsman Lendi Simmons topscoring with 68, skipper Rohit Sharma made 50, Kieron Pollard – another Windies allrounder – scored 36 and Ambati Rayudu was undefeated on 36.

Dwayne Bravo, former Windies one-day captain, took two for 36 and teammate Dwayne Smith took one for 17.

Chennai Super Kings in reply scored 161 for eight wickets in their 20 overs with Dwayne Smith topscoring with 57, Suresh Raina made 28 and skipper M.S. Dhoni scored 18. Mitchell McClenaghan took three for 25 while Lasith Malinga and Harbhajan Singh took two wickets each.

Player of Match was awarded to Sharma, the Mumbai Indians captain.

Final points table: Chennai Super Kings 18 points; Mumbai Indians 16; Royal Challengers Bangalore 16; Rajasthan Royals 16; Kolkata Knight Riders 15; Sunrisers Hyderabad 14; Delhi Daredevils 11 and Kings XI Punjab at the bottom of the table with six points.
