‘Nobody 2’ centers on action and dark humour

By Janet Grant

You get Bob Odenkirk back as Hutch Mansell, the hit-man dad. He returns to action when a family vacation collapses into mayhem. You see him face a corrupt sheriff and a crime boss played by Sharon Stone. Stone delivers a coldly fierce performance. Her character shifts from calm to explosive in seconds. That brings real tension.

The film centers on action and dark humour. Timo Tjahjanto directs with energy. He shifts the tone from warehouse gloom in the first film to bright summer chaos. The setting moves to a theme-park-meets-waterpark. The contrast grounds the violence and heightens it.

The cast serves the story. Connie Nielsen returns as Becca. Christopher Lloyd reprises his role as Hutch’s dad. Colin Hanks and John Ortiz add new layers of threat. Each actor fits their role and pushes the tension.

The screenplay credits include Derek Kolstad, Aaron Rabin, Bob Odenkirk, and Umair Aleem. That creates a strong through line from the first film. The script balances fast action with emotional stakes. Hutch remains under pressure from the Russian mob. He owes $30 million and takes on hits abroad to pay it off. Then the vacation turns dangerous. You see how family and past collide.

You get practical value. The film runs 89 minutes. That keeps pace tight. The visuals stay sharp. Odenkirk trains physically and delivers every punch with weight. You feel his history fused with fatherhood.

Nobody 2 delivers on its promise. You get action, tension, and dark laughs. You see a dad forced into survival mode to protect his family. You get performance, direction, setting, and pace that respect your attention.

“What happens on vacation… gets buried on vacation.”
