
Dianne Roena Murray, 72, of Ajax, Ontario, passed away peacefully on July 8th, 2023, surrounded by loving family members. She was born on January 15, 1951, to Clyde and Ursula Murray in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. In her late twenties, Dianne migrated to Canada after completing her schooling in her native Trinidad.
Murray enjoyed a rewarding career in Accounting at the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) for 34 years before retiring in 2010. She was known for her dedication and commitment to her work. Her hobbies included reading, cooking, and decorating, which brought her great joy outside of her professional life.
Murray was actively involved in the Caribana celebrations and worked with Wallace Dear as the main ticket collector and controller. She volunteered her services at various events throughout the year and was a valued member of the Pan Arts Network and Pan Fantasy Steelband teams.
Murray is predeceased by her daughter Royette Baptiste and her brother Lennox O’Brien. She is survived by her daughter Treasure Baptiste, step-children Margaret London, Vernella Zamore, Wendel McLeish, and Sharon McLeish, as well as siblings Patricia Richardson, Estalita Murray, and Jeffrey Murray. Dianne also leaves behind 15 grandchildren.
Murray will be remembered for her beautiful smile, poise, and grace, as well as the love she shared with her friends and family. She carried herself with dignity and strength until the end, always prioritizing the well-being of her loved ones.
The viewing will be held at Highland Funeral Home in Scarborough on Friday July 14th from 4pm to 8pm. The funeral service will also take place at Highland Funeral Home, specifically at the Scarborough Chapel located at 3280 Sheppard Avenue East, on Saturday July 15, 2023, at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made at the viewing or service. Donations can be placed in the designated donation box or given directly to a family member.
A Celebration of Dianne Murray’s Life will be held at Tropicana Community Services on Huntingwood in Scarborough.
