Pan Fantasy Wins Prestigious Arts for Youth Award in Toronto

Toronto’s largest and most successful steel orchestra, Pan Fantasy, emerged the winner of the Arts for Youth Award, sponsored by the Toronto Arts Foundation. At a ceremony held during the Mayor’s Arts Lunch at Arcadian Court on April 16th, Wendy Jones, leader of Pan Fantasy, gracefully accepted the award and the $20,000 cheque that came with it. Pan Fantasy was among five worthy awardees.

The finalists and recipients for 2024 showcased the creativity and range of Toronto’s arts landscape. Organizations that engage youth and community through the arts, as well as individuals leading organizations and those practicing in dance, visual arts and theatre, were honoured. 

Pan Fantasy Steelband /North York Inter-Community Youth Group (NYICYG) is a community-based organization that has been providing on-going activities within the steelpan community over the past 37 years; it provides a meaningful, highly recognized music program while operating as a non-profit volunteer organization, fostering leadership skills through performing arts.
