Veerasammy Permaul, the Guyana and West Indies left-arm spinner, was named Sportsman of the Year by the National Sports Commission last week.

The 25-year-old Albion cricketer is the leading wicket-taker in the Regional Four-Day competition.

Permaul made his test debut for the West Indies against Bangladesh in 2012 and has played in four tests and six ODIs.

Berbice Cricket Board extended congratulations to Permaul and wished him continued success in the ongoing regional tournament and also in him regaining his place in the West Indies test and ODI teams.

West Indies Cricket Board has also congratulated Chris Gayle on his recent record-breaking double century in the ICC Cricket Word Cup 2015.
