The Guyanese business community in Toronto, including George Prasad Grocery and Timehri Restaurant, told the Eyes Guy “Is just more of the same. Rather hold my peace and what change?”
Indeed, more like backward with a defacto Granger-led (PNC) APNU / AFC regime which has being foisted on Guyana by way of what some claim is electoral fraud.
The right to vote was fought for and won by the PPP in the early 1950’s. As we go to press, the “I am not Burnham” Granger is using Independence Day to inaugurate himself as president (like de Kabaka Burnham) with pomp and fanfare at taxpayer expenses.
Yes, Eyesers, Guyana is going backward with fake statements of polls, SOPs’ in 2015. After 28 years of rigged elections / dictatorship (1968-92) under the PNC’s LFS Burnham, how in God’s omnipotent name can the Eyes Guy, in good conscience, say “Happy 49th anniversary of Independence?
Woe unto me. Woe unto thee.
How can I be happy as beautiful Guyana is returning to mental slavery and the intoxication and indoctrination of pomp and ceremony and a song-and-dance show with all hail Burnham, oops Granger, the president who said, “I am not Burnham” but used like a lady of the night?
Burnham’s PNC party – main component of the APNUI / AFC – is voting like a power-drunk boss, not as a servant leader and now acting like a carnival barker.
Shame President Danger, oops, Granger, expect some 200,000 disenfranchised souls to have a wine and guh down and juk? Party like there is no tomorrow and then go hungry? And a hungry man is an angry man.
Businesses in Georgetown go up in a ball of fire – saw that movie before. Shame President Granger, a man who sat at Burnham’s feet and recently told 60 young men “I as president pardon ye. Go and sin no more.” Say wah? Are you Jesus Christ too?
Methinks Burnham, the Kabaka of the Obeah kind would be beside himself with ka – ka, galore! According to former president Donald Ramotar, “The PPP (People’s Progressive Party, with about 200,000 souls on their side) is proud of the role it has played in the struggle for a free and independent Guyana. Indeed, it was the PPP that led the struggle for a free and independent Guyana under the charismatic and dynamic leadership of Dr. Cheddi Jagan.”
According to the PPP, there is concern over attempts to divert the true meaning and significance of independence by meaningless fanfare and extravaganza to lend legitimacy to the fraud which took place on May 11. “This day will be remembered with shame down the corridors of time.”
Small wonder the PPP took the opportunity to reiterate the unwavering determination to protect their hard- won democracy and the democratic and constitutional gains scored by the party over the decades.
A young and former government minister and post grad of the University of the West Indies (UWI), Robert Montgomery Persaud, posted on Facebook late Tuesday night: “A house divided against itself cannot stand – Abraham Lincoln … sadly we are DIVIDED at our 49th Independence anniversary.”
A young militant Romel Roopnarine noted, “Independence Day is expected to be an event for all Guyana but apart from hijacking it, check out the colour of the wreaths which were used today in the practice run at the Independence Arch. APNU / AFC colours – such unity and diversity, representing an entire nation?
“So thanks but NO thanks Mr. Granger. Based on what you are saying and what is the reality are actually very, very far apart!”
A luta continua! The struggle continues.
