Mavado is coming to Canada this month.

He has been working quietly over the past 10 years to bring Jamaican artists to perform in Canada but little is known about the man behind this venture.
Dwayne Hines, founder of Jacana Group Inc. with a few friends from his post-secondary days started dance hall parties at George Brown College where he served as president.
He told The Camera during the 2015 Pan Am Games that he was working on bringing Mavado to Canada and he is fulfilling that at the end of this month.
Hines prides himself as the youngest man of Jamaican origin to plan a sold-out concert in 2007 at the Air Canada Centre when he brought some in big entertainers such as Bounty Killer, Buju Banton and Lady Saw. His company also produced concerts with Shaggy, Maxie Priest, Spragga Benz, Kanye West and Rihanna.
More recently, Jacana brought the winner of Season 5 of NBC’s The Voice, Tessanne Chin, who performed to a sold-out crowd here.
Hines said they will “continue to deliver quality and good entertainment from the Caribbean in Toronto,” noting that this city has a large Caribbean entertainment audience.
Hines said he plans to wrap up the year with a concert pairing Jamaican-born Diana King, singer-songwriter, who performs a mix of reggae, eeggae fusion and dancehall, with Chin.
