On May 18, Scarborough Community Renewal Organization (SCRO), working together with the Scarborough Business Association (SBA) and the Rotary Clubs in Scarborough are hosting a debate on political issues specifically affecting Scarborough.

The leading parties and their Scarborough candidates, have been asked to select one of their candidates to represent their party as a spokesperson. They will be asked questions that directly relate to Scarborough and what their party’s intentions are to improve and renew Scarborough.

Larry Whatmore, President of SCRO stated, “We need to challenge the Parties on the

funding needs of our hospital, transit, housing affordability and poverty alleviation.  The needs are great and the neglect has been long.  What will each party propose to do to deliver what our residents desperately need?”

“Scarborough has one of the highest levels of working poverty in Canada and our social assistance recipients are double the national average.  What social policy initiatives do the parties have on offer to reverse the poverty trend in Scarborough?”

We invite you to attend our event where there will be a small in person audience or you can watch on YouTube “Focus on Scarborough” and pose your questions.  Details will be available on our website ….
