Reelworld Launches New Opportunities for BIPOC Emerging Talent

Reelworld is offering exciting new opportunities for BIPOC creators with the launch of three dynamic programs aimed at emerging screenwriters, below-the-line professionals, and aspiring producers in the Canadian entertainment industry. These initiatives are designed to provide mentorship, training, and pathways to industry success.

First, the Reelworld E20 Program is currently accepting applications from screenwriters looking to hone their craft. This initiative supports emerging talent by offering valuable mentorship and development opportunities. Interested screenwriters can apply now through the program’s website. Applications close on January 14, 2025.

For below-the-line professionals, the Reelworld x NABET Mentorship Program is another key opportunity. This program connects emerging talent with industry veterans, offering hands-on experience and professional guidance. Those interested in stepping into production roles such as grips, gaffers, or assistant directors are encouraged to apply before the January 14, 2025 deadline.

Perhaps the most immersive of the three is the Reelworld Producer Program, a four-month initiative designed to train the next generation of producers. Running from February to June 2025, the program offers weekly workshops (2-3 hours per week) focused on the business side of the entertainment industry. Participants will learn key skills such as establishing a production company, optioning scripts, negotiating contracts, and assembling creative teams.

In addition to valuable industry insights, selected producer trainees will have the opportunity to pitch their projects, with Bell Media showing interest in potential development deals. Participants will also gain exclusive access to apply for industry markets throughout the year and receive passes to the 2025 Reelworld Summit+Festival. The program is not intended for directors or writers focused on their own work but for those dedicated to mastering the art of producing.

For all three programs, the application deadline is January 14, 2025. To learn more or apply, visit the Reelworld website.
