Rosemary Sadlier to receive honorary doctorate from OCAD

Rosemary Sadlier

Author and social justice advocate Rosemary Sadlier, one of the leaders of the drive for the recognition of Black History Month (February) and Emancipation Day, across Canada, will receive an honorary Doctor of Letters degree from the Ontario College of Art and Design University (OCAD) at its graduation ceremony on Friday.

Sadlier who had served as president of the Ontario Black History Society (OBHS) for more than 20 years, has written several books dealing with the contributions made by Blacks in Canada.

Also receiving honorary degrees at Friday’s graduation ceremony will be the following:

Kat Holmes, Chief Design Officer and EVP at Salesforce

– Robert Houle, First Nations artist

-Philip R. Lind, Vice Chairman of Rogers Communications

– Nancy McCain, Chairman of the Toronto Foundation.
