Saldenah wins ‘ Band of the Year’ – again

“Celebration Time” from Louis Saldenah’s Mas-K Club was adjudged ” Band of the Year”  at the

Peeks Toronto Caribbean Carnival 2017.

Saldenah’s band has placed first in the annual competition 18 times and has been a runner-up

12 times.

In  this year’s Big Band category (bands with more than 750 members) Toronto Revellers was

the second place winner. Carnival Nationz placed third.

Dexter Seusahai’sTribal Carnival was the winner in the Small, Medium and New bands category.

Fantazia Carnival placed second and Sunlime was third.

“This year’s presentations were particularly impressive,” said head judge Marline Jones

Commenting on yet another  mas’ victory, Saldenah said ” it was a team effort.”

Seusahai said his band was honoured ” to win for the second time in a row.”

“We are looking forward to competing in the big band category next year,” he added.

Tribal Carnival  has been participating in the Toronto carnival for eleven years.

Eleven mas’ bands, six steelbands and several guest bands took part in Saturday’s grand parade.
