Scarborough Centre MPP David Smith hosted his highly anticipated annual community picnic this past Saturday, continuing a tradition that has brought the community together for 14 years. The event, held in a local park, saw hundreds of community members gather to enjoy a day filled with food, fun, and fellowship.

Smith, who has been organizing the picnic since his days as a school board trustee, expressed his enthusiasm for the event. “This has always been about bringing the community together, sharing a meal, and creating a space where kids can have a wonderful time,” he said. The picnic featured a variety of food booths, all offering free treats, including ice cream, popcorn, candy, and even Syrian and Lebanese cuisine. “Everyone’s having a great time, and that’s what’s most important,” Smith added.

The event reached a special peak with the arrival of Premier Doug Ford, who was scheduled to address the crowd. While the details of Ford’s speech were kept under wraps, his presence added to the excitement and jubilant atmosphere.

The picnic also featured activities for children, including a train ride, a bouncy castle, and various sports and games. Dance groups from the surrounding communities performed, adding to the lively atmosphere.
