The West Indies Cricket Board last weekend announced the schedule for the Regional 4-day and Super50 tournaments in the 2013 season
The Super50 tournament will commence on February 07th with three matches in Round 1 in Antigua Barbados and St Lucia.
The 4-day matches in Round 1 will commence on February 09th through February 12th.
Barbados will host reigning champions Jamaica (winners of both tournaments in 2012) at the Kensington Oval. Guyana will take on the Leeward Islands at the Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua and the Windward Islands will play the Combined Campuses & Colleges at the Beausejour Cricket Grounds. T&T has drawn a bye.
The seven teams will compete for the Clive Lloyd Trophy in the Super50 and the Headley/Weekes Trophy in the Regional 4-day.
In other regional news, the West Indies Cricket Board of Directors, at a meeting held last Saturday and Sunday in Port-of-Spain, expressed grave concern at the length of time it is taking for a resolution to be had to the situation in Guyana.
The Board further implores all parties involved to use their best endeavors to ensure that the situation with regard to cricket in Guyana returns to a level of acceptability in the shortest possible period.
The Board at at the same time reiterates its position that it recognizes the Guyana Cricket Board as the sole governing body responsible for the administration, management and development of cricket in Guyana. Further the Board reminds that the GCB is a shareholder of the WICB.
According to the Board the GCB did not submit by the deadline date the Guyana team to participate in the Caribbean Twenty20 tournament which is scheduled to start on January 06th in Port-of-Spain.
