Six persons – five men and one woman- were shot outside Spence’s Bakery on Eglinton Avenue West in Toronto hours before dawn yesterday morning.
The shooting in the neighbourhood known as “Little Jamaica” is believed to be “gang-related” but police say some of the people who were shot were innocent bystanders.
According to the police, the bakery is not a “gang-related location.”
Police say the injuries of the victims were not life-threatening.
The victims ranged in age from 30 to 69-years old.
Commenting on the shooting, Jill Andrew, NDP MPP for Toronto–St. Paul’s, noted that “Little Jamaica is one of the jewels of our city, and Spence’s Bakery is an indispensable community institution.
