If you want to fill one of the two Ontario vacancies in the Senate, you better hurry up.
You have until next week to submit your application to the Independent Advisory Board for Senate applications.
The Canadian government is now accepting applications for Senate vacancies – one in New Brunswick, three in Nova Scotia, and two in Ontario.
Deadline : January 25, 2017 at 23:59 Eastern Time.
Last month the Canadian government announced that it was following through on its commitment to improve the appointments process and restore public confidence in a reformed Senate.
“This new appointment process is one step towards a healthier democracy, where all Canadians can have an equal opportunity to be considered for serving their country as senators,” said Maryam Monsef, then Minister of Democratic Institutions.
The Advisory Board invites New Brunswickers, Nova Scotians and Ontarians to apply using the online application process.
Applicants who must be a minimum of 30 years of age and be less than 75 years of age. will be
assessed on the basis of the criteria outlined on the Advisory Board’s website.
