St. Kitts and Nevis has garnered significant attention through a notable endorsement from American Express Travel. The dual-island nation has been featured on American Express Travel’s esteemed 2024 Trending Destinations: Off the Beaten Path list. This recognition highlights St. Kitts and Nevis as one of the top 10 emerging global destinations and the only Caribbean representative on the list. This accolade positions the nation alongside celebrated global destinations, underscoring its appeal as a hidden gem awaiting discovery.

American Express Travel praised St. Kitts and Nevis for its captivating mix of unspoiled beaches, friendly locals, and rich historical heritage, making it an ideal choice for travelers in search of a distinctive Caribbean adventure. Travel industry experts anticipate that this recognition will influence booking trends, with a significant increase expected in the upcoming winter season.
Ellison “Tommy” Thompson, CEO of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, commented, “This accolade from American Express Travel greatly enhances our visibility and attractiveness to travelers around the globe. With new air services and an uptick in cruise ship visits, we are well-positioned to exceed pre-pandemic visitor levels and highlight our island’s unique allure.”

St. Kitts has already seen a substantial rise in visitor arrivals, with Tourism Analytics reporting a 38% increase from January to September last year compared to the same period in 2022. The island remains a popular cruise destination, with over half a million passengers arriving by September 2023.
The upcoming winter season promises further excitement with the inaugural voyage of Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship, scheduled to visit St. Kitts on January 27. Additionally, expanded airlift services, including JetBlue’s year-round flights from New York and enhanced services from Newark, will provide easier access for travelers attending major events such as the St. Kitts Music Festival and Restaurant Week.
