The Ajax Community Center was alive with the rhythms and stories of Kesha Christie, a popular storyteller celebrated for her resilience and passion. The event, held from noon to 6:00 p.m., was a celebration of art and culture, featuring a lineup of talented artists.

Other storytellers who performed included Devon Francis, a skilled musician and rapper, dub poet Judith Shaw, as well as captivating dancers. Several dance groups also showcased their talent and energy. A cooking demonstration by Ms. King’s Kitchen was a highlight, where Nicole King shared her grandmother’s recipe for saltfish and ackee, a dish deeply rooted in Jamaican tradition.
Christie and her crew delivered powerful performances that delighted the audience. She used African and Caribbean folk tales, engaging and insightful storytelling, which have earned her a respected voice in the storytelling community. Her commitment to preserving and promoting African and Caribbean cultural traditions was evident throughout the event.


The event also featured a marketplace offering goods such as Black soap, Shea butter, spices, and books by various authors. Esmen’s Curry Powder, a Jamaican company known for its generational formula, was among the vendors, alongside a travel agent offering getaway packages to warmer climates.
The performers showcased their ability to connect people through storytelling and highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Africa and the Caribbean.
