About 250 residents turned out in Ajax this January to take part in the town’s first-ever New Year’s Levee, marking a new chapter in community engagement and civic connection.

The event, hosted by Jennifer McKelvie and Ajax Councillor Rob Cerjanec, was held on January 17 at St. Nedela Macedonian Orthodox Church. Residents, community leaders, and local stakeholders gathered for an informal meet-and-greet with elected officials, reflecting on the past year while looking ahead to shared priorities.

“I was pleased to see such a strong turnout at our New Year’s Levee,” McKelvie said. “It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with community members, reflect on the past year, and look ahead with optimism and shared purpose.”

The Levee was part of a broader series of January engagements in Ajax, including a business-focused reception hosted by the Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade at the Hilton Garden Inn, as well as a local Legion event.

Together, the events underscored a renewed focus on collaboration between residents, businesses, and community institutions in Ajax.
