
After a long career in public health, including a 24 year stint in his native Jamaica, Sylvanus Thompson, popularly known by his colleagues as ” Doctor T,” recently retired as an Associate Director with Toronto Public Health.

Thompson joined Toronto Public Health as a Temporary Public Health Inspector in 2000, became Acting Manager in 2001 and Associate Director in 2012.
He is a member of several community organizations and has served on the Jamaica Diaspora Advisory Board.
Thompson told The Caribbean Camera that he now plans to devote more time to community work.
