Synchro Canada’s Senior National Team christened the new CIBC Pan Am / Parapan Am Aquatic Centre yesterday as the first national team to train there.

The team will participate in the 13th FINA World Cup in Quebec City from Oct. 2 to 5.

The aquatic centre in east end Scarborough boasts two internationally sanctioned 10-lane, 50-metre pools, a five-metre-deep diving tank with three, five, 7.5 and 10 metre platforms and dry-land training facilities.

During the Games, the venue will host the synchronized swimming competition with the team and duet events on July 9 and 11. The winner of the duet event at the Pan Am Games will qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympics.
