Dr. Jay is back on the air with his Soca Therapy as he teams up with the new VIBE 105.5.
The internationally renowned Dr. Jay and his posse the KOS crew will spin on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 to 10 p.m. featuring the best of soca music, event showcases and exclusive artist interviews.
Dr. Jay will also kick off VIBE 105’s weekly drive-time show (Vibe Drive) every Monday from 6 to 8 p.m., expanding the reach of Soca to a wider audience. His contagious energy will be a much needed pick-me-up during the hardest work day of the week.
After a voting process on Twitter and other social media platforms including tweets, hashtags and praise, the good doctor has been returned to York University’s rebranding of CHRY 105.5.
“VIBE 105.5 wanted to acknowledge the power of soca by supporting a platform that could adequately showcase the genuine appeal and growing appreciation of the genre across the GTA,” Randy Reid, program manager of VIBE 10.5, said in a statement.
“It was an easy decision reaching out to ‘de Soca Prince’ for the purpose of joining Team VIBE. Dr. Jay’s passion and energy is unsurpassed. We look forward to having him at the helm as we showcase just how dynamic the culture (and music) is.”
Reid said Soca Therapy exceeded its quota of votes to become a “cornerstone” to the signature cultural programming at the station.
