The Virtuosity of Blackness Music & Arts Festival ready to go

Art Starts is proud to present our upcoming celebration of Black Arts –The Virtuosity of Blackness Park Festival as part of the Arts in the Park initiative funded by the Toronto Arts Council. This music and multi-arts festival will take place at the Earl Bales Park Amphitheatre on September 18, 2021 from 12:30 PM until 4:30 PM.

This much anticipated showcase promises electrifying performances featuring both emerging local talent and well-known performers, including rappers Nathan Baya and SRE; reggae sensation TeePolo; spoken word artists Dwayne Morgan and RARE; the R&B stylings of Markus Jackman and JHYVE; the African sounds of 148, and the dancers of C-Flava. Canada’s queen of Hip Hop Michie Mee will MC, lending her singular style of warmth and humour to the lineup. Legendary reggae star Jay Douglas and his All Star Band will make a much anticipated appearance.

Saikou of African Drums & Art Crafts will kickstart the day with a rousing interactive performance at 12:30 PM in the park, while Pogi the DJ spins her eclectic mix of tunes in the amphitheatre. Main stage performances begin at 2pm. Enjoy craft and food vendors throughout the afternoon at this free, family-friendly event.

Program administrator Sophia Findlay says “this is a show for the whole family to just kick back and relax in this COVID time, the community need and deserve this at this time.”
