Tony Cozier’s funeral set for Friday

The funeral service for Winston Anthony Lloyd Cozier – known as Tony Cozier – the Barbados and West Indian cricket writer, commentator and journalist who died May 11 in his home country Barbados at 75, will be tomorrow (May 20) at Coral Ridge Memorial Gardens, The Ridge in Christ Church. Cremation to follow.

According to local media reports, Cozier’s closed casket was on view yesterday for the public to pay final respect to the late legend in an area behind the 3Ws stand at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown.

Several cricket organizations locally and around the world, including the world’s governing cricket body, the International Cricket Council, and international cricket players paid tribute to Cozier who also is known internationally as “the legendary voice of West Indies cricket.”

The passing of Cozier truly marks the end of a glorious chapter of West Indies cricket.

Cozier who started his career as a commentator in 1958, did his first international commentary stint when Australia toured the Caribbean in1965.
