Seven-Year-Old Future Doctor Enters Elite Mensa Society
A seven-year-old student from Henry County in Georgia has drawn attention for remarkable academic performance after earning admission into American Mensa, an organisation reserved for individuals who score within the top 2 per cent on recognised intelligence assessments.

Jadon Prieto, a first grade student enrolled at Georgia Cyber Academy near Atlanta, recently secured membership in the high IQ society and was also accepted into his school’s gifted education programme.
Founded in 1946, Mensa International includes members from more than 100 countries and is regarded as one of the world’s best known intellectual societies. Its membership spans a wide range of professions including scientists, engineers, writers and students.
According to his parents, Jadon displayed unusual academic abilities from an early age. His mother said he began reading at age 2 and quickly developed advanced mathematical skills. By the age of 5, cognitive testing reportedly placed him above the 99th percentile.
His family explained that traditional public schooling did not fully address his educational requirements, but said he has progressed significantly since joining Georgia Cyber Academy.
Testing results from the Cognitive Abilities Test showed Jadon scored in the 99th percentile in both quantitative and nonverbal categories.
Despite his accomplishments, his parents say he maintains the interests of a typical child. He enjoys building with Legos, watching educational programmes including “Ada Twist, Scientist” and “SciShow Kids,” and following Sonic the Hedgehog.
Jadon also has strong Caribbean influences within his household. He listens to soca music by artistes including Super Blue, Machel Montano and Kes The Band, while enjoying dishes such as pelau, roti and callaloo.
Outside academics, he participates in swimming and taekwondo. Jadon describes himself as “polite, intelligent, respectful, and confident.”
The son of Trinidad and Tobago born university professors Leon Prieto and Simone Phipps Prieto, he says he hopes to become a paediatrician one day because “I want to help children.”
