The Trinidad and Tobago Consulate in Toronto held a rare repast early last Saturday evening. The community event was in honour of the Horace Thorne, the president of the Trinidad and Tobago Association in the province.
Consul General Tracey Ramsubagh-Mannette arranged the reception. She told the attendees that Thorne’s volunteer dedication to the T&T community in Ontario could not be overlooked, and the repast was the Consulate’s way of doing this.
Thorne, who was 85-year old, died earlier this month at his home in Brampton. There was a funeral service for him last Saturday in Etobicoke prior to the Consulate gathering.
Born and educated in Trinidad, he lived for over 40-years in Brampton. He was a photographer, a community organizer, a tireless long-time Toronto Caribbean Carnival (Caribana) volunteer and a loving family man.
