The West Indies secured an emphatic eight-wicket victory over England in Barbados, winning the ODI series 2-1. Key to the triumph were centuries from Keacy Carty (128 off 114 balls) and Brandon King (102 off 117 balls), who led their team to a comfortable chase of 264 in just 43 overs.

The West Indies’ chase began solidly with openers Evin Lewis and King building a foundation. Although Lewis fell for 19, King and Carty took control. Carty survived an early scare when an LBW decision was overturned using the DRS system, allowing him to settle in. The pair reached 100 runs in 19 overs and continued to push the score past 150 by the 27th over. Both brought up half-centuries, mixing patience with aggression.
England’s bowlers struggled to stem the flow of runs, and the pressure increased further when Jordan Cox dropped King on 86 off Jofra Archer’s bowling. King made the most of the reprieve, reaching his century, while Carty became the first St. Maarten-born player to score an ODI century for the West Indies. Their record-breaking 209-run partnership, the highest ever for West Indies against England, was finally broken when Reece Topley bowled King. However, by then, the result was nearly secured. Carty’s finishing touch saw the West Indies home, clinching the series.
Earlier, the West Indies’ pace attack set the tone, reducing England to 24-4 within the first 10 overs. Matthew Forde struck early, dismissing Will Jacks for five, followed by Alzarri Joseph, who sent Jordan Cox packing for one. Romario Shepherd took two wickets, including a sensational catch by Roston Chase to remove Barbados-born Jacob Bethell for a duck. Shepherd added another wicket, sending Liam Livingstone back for six, leaving England reeling.
Phil Salt and Sam Curran staged a recovery with a 70-run partnership, but their progress was slow. Curran fell for 40, and although Salt added another 70-run stand with Dan Mousley, he was dismissed for 74, thanks to sharp relay fielding by King and Joseph. Mousley scored his maiden ODI fifty, and late contributions from Overton (32) and Archer (38) helped England post a total of 263.
The match saw a tense moment when Joseph had a dispute with captain Shai Hope over the fielding setup, briefly walking off the field before being persuaded to return by head coach Daren Sammy.
In the end, the West Indies sealed the victory with a dominant all-round performance.
