Nominations for Impact Awards 2023 close on September 9

The second annual Impact Awards, presented by The Caribbean Camera and the Black Indigenous Business Development Association (BIBDA), will take place on October 15, 2023. This event will once again be held at the Ontario Science Centre stage to honor the remarkable accomplishments of exceptional individuals within the Caribbean and Black communities in Canada.

The organizers are seeking nominations for various categories. The nomination process is open to all individuals and organizations within the Black and Caribbean communities who are interested in recognizing outstanding achievements.

The following are the categories available for submissions:

Arts & Culture:

Recognizing clubs and individuals who contribute to the development of arts and culture within the community. This includes supporting artists and performers, fostering cultural celebrations, and facilitating public programs such as festivals, music, film, performing arts, and literature presentations.

Entertainment:

Celebrating dancers, actors, musicians, and all other performers for their significant contributions to the arts and entertainment landscape over the years.

Community Organization:

Acknowledging clubs, places of worship, and individuals who unite to support the community for various commendable causes.

Education:

Highlighting individuals who provide valuable support for learning, education, and vocational training across all age groups, enhancing the lives of community members.

Health Services Medical:

Recognizing organizations and individuals. Recognizing efforts to promote public health awareness, education, and community-based programs that provided outstanding assistance, care, compassion, and leadership within their communities.

Sport:

Commending clubs and individuals who positively influence the community by promoting sports participation and enjoyment. This includes providing facilities, training programs, financial aid, and dedicated efforts to assist sporting groups.

Mental Health:

Highlighting individuals or organizations that offer innovative approaches to support and enhance mental well-being and inclusion, addressing the unique needs of diverse communities.

Business:

Celebrating individuals or corporations from the community who have achieved success in building their businesses and have also served as role models for the youth.

Carnival Arts (Individual or Group Award):

Honoring individuals or groups who have significantly contributed to the Caribana or Carnival parade. This includes designers, builders, bandleaders, Steelband leaders, arrangers, tuners, Calypso singers, writers, and music arrangers who have advanced our art form.
