“The Letters: Postmark Prejudice in Black and White.” White shared poignant stories from her parents’ 1940s marriage, highlighting the challenges they faced and the enduring power of love. White’s recent recognition with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal underscored her significant contributions to literature and anti-racism advocacy.

The author’s speech resonated deeply, emphasizing her involvement in the Federal Government’s National Apology Advisory Committee and her role as Chair of its Communications and Community Engagement Subcommittee. She also highlighted her personal experiences, including her residence in Agincourt with her husband.

Rozenya Smith’s soulful renditions of Mahalia Jackson and Whitney Houston’s songs had the audience on their feet, while Sonia Worrell’s poems provided a perfect conclusion to a memorable day.
