Jamaican authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of actor Brian Todd Anthony Boucher, who was killed in Waterford, St Catherine, late Saturday.

Boucher, 43, was pronounced dead at Spanish Town General Hospital after being shot while walking along a roadway in the community. Police said another man, 37, was wounded during the incident and remains hospitalized.

Investigators said the two men were approached by a vehicle carrying several armed men. One of the occupants reportedly got out and opened fire before the group fled the area. No arrests have been announced and police have not established a motive.

Sources said Boucher, also known as “Ajoy,” had arrived in Jamaica only hours before the shooting. He was reportedly from Northport Way in New York.

Boucher was known internationally for portraying Jamaican gangster Claudie Massop in the 2024 biographical film Bob Marley: One Love. The movie, which chronicles the life and career of reggae legend Bob Marley, brought the actor to a global audience.

Massop, a reputed political enforcer, was a significant figure in Jamaica’s turbulent political history and his life intersected with events portrayed in the film.

The St Catherine South Police have appealed for information as investigators continue examining the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Boucher’s death adds another violent episode to concerns about gun crime in Jamaica, while police work to determine why the actor was targeted shortly after returning to the island.
